Charter Member of the Liberty Horseshoe Club which formed in 1986.

Ray is a 25 year member of MO Horseshoe Pitchers Association and has a very impressive record. He was a member of the NHPA from 1966 through 1979, then returned to horseshoes in 2004 and has been pitching since.

Ray began his pitching career in 1957 when he started working at the Town & Country shoe factory.

Soon after getting hooked on horseshoes, he talked the City into installing 6 courts in Grover Park where they conducted a league and tournaments. Ray didn't start pitching in other towns until 1960.

In 1979 Ray traded in his horseshoes for a little white ball and chased it over the greens for the next 25 years. Then in 2004, he decided he missed horseshoes and started pitching again, going to Liberty and Independence to pitch in tournaments. In 2006 he moved up to 30' and continues to give A Class players a run for their money.

Ray participates in other sports. He bowls and was inducted into the St Louis Bowling Hall of Fame in 1992.
