Mick began pitching as a member of the NHPA in 1983.

In 1993 Mick was inducted into the St Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame.

Mick's dedication to the sport of horseshoes, his physical and monetary support of the horseshoe clubs, his active membership in the horseshoe community and his expertise in pitching horseshoes are all reasons for Mick Gillette to be inducted into the Missouri Horseshoe Hall of Fame.
