1972 Missouri State Tournament

The State Horseshoe Pitching Tournament got off to a slow start due to wind and rain early Friday morning. The new pegs set in blocks, donated by Charles Killgore were deeply appreciated.

At the annual meeting held Saturday at noon a moment of silent prayer was observed for Mr. C.C. Davis of Kansas City, Mr. Harry Bailey of Owensville and Mr. Guy Maddox of Jefferson City, all of whom passed away during the last year. Mr. Davis was a former World Champion, as well as a 2-Time Missouri State Champion and has been elected into the N.H.P.A. Hall Of Fame.

The tournament saw Dave Baker retain his title as well as winning the trophy given by Ray Cavin for single high game - 90.0%. Baker never lost a game in two days.

In the Junior's Division, Danny Plute of Warrensburg regained his title from two years ago be defeating the defending state champion, Rick Gibson of Chula.
