1964 Missouri State Tournament

The best State Horseshoe Tournament played since 1940 was just completed with record entries and a new state record in ringer percentage for a complete tournament was set by Paul Lattray of Webster Groves hitting 78.9% to break Bob Bales record of 76.6% set in 1940, a 24-year old record.

Paul Lattray went undefeated for the 11 games, this is the first time this has happened since Bill Kempfe of Alma did it in 1959.

In the play-off for 2nd place, Ray Cavin defeated Earl Winston 52-29. Vicki Winston is the first lady horseshoe pitcher to ever compete in the state championship class "A" finals. She is also a 5-Time WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPION. Other place ties were settled by total points on the losing games.
