1963 Missouri State Tournament

There were four former state champions in the "A" Class division of the Missouri State Tournament which gave the class a lot of competition and plenty of sharp games. During the round robin play the defending champion, Paul Lattray lost only one game to Ray Cavin. Harry Strohm of Kansas City defeated Ray Cavin to force Lattray and Cavin into a play-off match with Lattray winning. Lattray becomes the first player to successfully defend his title in the last ten years.

During the tournament, which was held at the Missouri State Fair is Sedalia, the following officers were elected or re-elected to guide the association for the next year. Earl Winston - President, Charles Killgore - Vice President and John Elkins - Secretary/Treasurer.
